You’ve heard of six degrees of Kevin Bacon… well here in Port Douglas Mossman it’s more like three degrees. It’s most likely that someone will know someone you know! It is a small and close community and from that comes many people who are so supportive of each other.
What is a hidden gem spot that only Port Douglas locals know about?
There are a few well kept secrets about swimming holes in the creeks and waterfalls around Port Douglas.
What is your favourite Port Douglas cafe/restaurant?
Got to be the ones with great ambiance and views – Lure Restaurant, St Crispin’s Cafe and Hi Tide for Breakfast, and Salsa Bar & Grill and Melaleuca for dinner (the Vietnamese in Grant Street is great for more casual eating).
If you could live anywhere in the Douglas Shire, where would it be?
Being near the centre of Port Douglas is great as I can swim in the sea all year round, walk back from bars and restaurants, and rarely need a car.
What do you value most about working at Property Shop Port Douglas & Mossman?
The people are the most important as they are all lovely, even though it can be stressful when there is a lot of work on.
Kaz Stanaway
Kaz is Marketing Manager for Property Shop, responsible for the Port Douglas, Mossman, and Four Mile offices. Her marketing and branding expertise are put to good use through all of Property Shop’s different promotional channels – including the website, signage, and social media.

There are so many beautiful, private spots stretching along Four Mile Beach.
What is your favourite Port Douglas cafe/restaurant?
My favourite cafes are Origin Espresso Café, Lighthouse Café on the beach, and Whileaway Bookshop and Café. My favourite restaurants are Salas Bar & Grill, The Surfy, and Watergate.
If you could live anywhere in the Douglas Shire, where would it be?
Newell Beach – only 20 minutes to Port Douglas. A beautiful unspoilt beach with boat access.

I love being part of the team and achieving our goals. In my role, I love the creativity of designing in our fresh new Property Shop brand and colours.
Lars Pederson
Lars is the wonderful manager of the Mossman real estate agents at Property Shop’s Mossman office and has spent the last two decades calling the Douglas Shire home. Mountain bike down Bumptrack from Black Mountain Rd, or cooling off in the pools after walking to the top of Mowbray Falls.

Currently, lunch at Hemingway’s Brewery on the Marina.
If you could live anywhere in the Douglas Shire, where would it be?
I wouldn’t move as I already live in the best spot.
